Instead of spending money this summer, you can get paid to have fun. Congressional Camp offers a wide range of activities that counselors get to experience for free, such as trips to Amusement and Water Parks, Indoor Skydiving, Trampoline Parks, and Arcades like Dave and Busters.
4 . Build a great resume with extra qualifications
Working at Congressional Camp allows you to build a great resume! You will gain experience in creative problem solving, strategic planning, decision-making, resolving conflict, and effective communication. You could also gain extra certifications, such as: CPR and First Aid, Lifeguard Certification, Ropes Course Certification, Archery Instructor Certification, and Medication Administration Training (MAT).

The idea of a sleepaway camp might be daunting to some people. No more uncomfortable bunk beds or waking up at the crack of dawn. Our camp day starts at 8:15 AM and ends at 3:45PM, but still allows for you to enjoy essential sleepaway camp experiences.
6. The outdoor activitiesBeing a camp counselor at Congressional Camp provides you with many opportunities outdoors. Kayaking, Hiking, Firebuilding, Fishing, Horseback Riding, Archery - you name it!
7. Travel to new places
If you join our Travel Camp team, you can adventure all around D.C., Northern Virginia, and nearby states. Our travel camps have a long list of amazing trips: Rafting, laser tag, picnicking on the National Mall, visiting the Smithsonian museums, Hiking through Great Falls, and visiting amusement parks like Hershey Park, Kings Dominion, and Six Flags.
8. Develop leadership skills
Working at camps allows you to develop leadership skills. As a camp counselor, you will lead a group of children throughout the day. In doing this, you will have the ability to clearly communicate instructions, multitask, make decisions that are good for the group, and set an example as a role model. These are key ways to fine-tune your leadership skills!
9. Stay Active all summer
Working at camp allows you to stay fit while working on your tan. Relay races, rock wall climbing, tug-of-war, swim races, and more - there is an abundance of activities that will allow you to live a healthy and active lifestyle. As you explore our campus, you’ll easily reach 10,000 steps by lunchtime!
